"Children age three to six-year-old work at their own pace freely in the classroom with developmentally
appropriate materials taken from shelves. Classroom areas consist of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math,
Computers, Geography, Music, Art, Blocks, Books and Science.
Early Elementary 6 - 9 Years
, The subject areas are a natural continuation from preschool and kindergarten since many of the materials
overlap, and then become more advanced. This allows the children the opportunity to use materials they are
already acquainted with to reinforce their former skills and practice their newly acquired ones.
Subject areas include: Math (linear counting, the operations, decimal system, geometry, fractions, clocks);
Language (phonics, sight words, diagraphs, grammar, sentence diagramming); Reading; and Spelling.
Cultural areas consist of Spanish, music, art, geography, history, botany, physical science and geography
Upper Elementary 9 - 12 Years
As in the early elementary, upper elementary children continue to work in teams or as individuals with
materials developed for teaching concepts and strategies. These children become involve in extensive
research projects relating to specific subject areas using available resources and computers.
Content areas covered in upper elementary are: Math (basic mathematics, geometry, algebra introduction);
Reading; Language Arts (synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, affixes, sentence diagramming, symbolic grammar,
intro to verbals, infinitives, participles and gerunds); and Spelling. Cultural Subjects include earth science,
space science, chemistry, botany, physical science, biology, history, geography, Spanish, music, and art.
